The Natural Language Processing Group

The Natural Language Processing Group, lead by Prof. Dan Cristea, Ph.D., includes post-doc researchers but also PhD, master and undergraduate students. The Group is more stable at the top and more fluctuating at the base. As undergraduate students get an interest on NLP research, after producing a graduation paper in this domain, they usually enrol in the Computational Linguistics master studies at the Faculty of Computer Science in UAIC. Eventually, some of them will remain also for advanced, PhD studies. Most of the members of the Group have a background in Computer Science, but some come also from the field of Linguistics. They are taught basic courses on computational linguistics (morphology and grammar formalisms, semantics, discourse structure, etc.) and natural language processing (programming and data structures, symbolic and statistical approaches in NLP, NLP workflows, corpus linguistics, etc.) at master level but also in the EUROLAN series of Summer Schools.
